Let Chef Jim allow you to do some of your favorite things: eat good food, learn how to cook that food for yourself and meet new people who are also interested in improving their culinary skills! You will learn how to cook traditional Greek food and take home printed recipes of what you make each evening.


Your cooking journey will begin with soups and salads, followed by two weeks of a variety of meze (appetizers), then broiling and grilling chicken and seafood, cooking lamb two ways, constructing a savory Moussaka, stewing vegetables and finishing with desserts.

However, great cooking isn't about recipes alone; itís not just a collection of measurements and precise instructions; it's about techniques. In our classes you'll work alongside other students in a fun, hands-on environment led by a classically trained chef-instructor. All supplies (food items, aprons and knives will be provided to students).

Chef Jim Mavroleon is an instructor at the Monmouth County Career Center, Freehold, NJ. He is of Greek descent and started cooking in the family diner. Chef Jim is a graduate of Le Cordon Bleu of Paris.
